Sylvis at the Paraguay–UAE Business Leaders Meeting

Sylvis was present at the Paraguay–United Arab Emirates Business Leaders Meeting in Asunción, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and REDIEX. Bilateral non-oil trade between the two countries reached USD 249.2 million in 2025, up 54% from the previous year, according to the UAE’s Minister of Trade, Thani Al Zeyoudi, who spoke at the event.

The room for growth is still much larger. In food alone, the UAE imported USD 27 billion in 2024, while Paraguayan exports to that market reached just USD 23 million, only 0.08% of that total. It’s the gap Paraguay’s own trade ministry points to as the roadmap for what it hopes to build with the private sector.

For the forestry sector, which currently accounts for USD 107 million in annual exports and 5,000 direct jobs in Paraguay, that same gap represents opportunity. Being present in these conversations is part of how Sylvis stays close to where new demand for sustainably managed forestry is taking shape.
