In October, the month dedicated worldwide to breast cancer awareness, Forestal Sylvis and the Family Health Unit (USF) of Lote’i Corralito San Miguel, in Caazapá, organized a health day for the community on Tuesday, October 20.

The initiative brought together two things that rural communities often have to seek separately: information to prevent disease and medical care on the spot.

Prevention through knowledge

The day began with a community talk on breast cancer prevention, breast self-examination, and the early detection of cervical cancer. Early detection remains one of the most effective tools against both diseases, and knowing how and when to get checked makes a real difference.

Care for the whole community

After the talk, the health team provided 82 medical services:

  1. General medical consultations: 35
  2. Dental care: 10
  3. HIV testing: 10
  4. Vaccinations: 10
  5. Electrocardiograms: 7
  6. Pap smears: 5
  7. HPV testing: 5

A shared commitment

The day saw strong participation from the community, with an approach that combined preventive education and immediate medical care. For us, initiatives like this are part of how we understand our role in the territories where we work: alongside local institutions, and close to the families who live there.

We thank the team at USF Lote’i Corralito San Miguel for their commitment and for making this day possible.
