The 5th edition of Expo Madera once again demonstrated that Paraguay\u2019s forestry sector is entering a decisive stage. Each year, the event brings together companies, experts, and institutions to discuss the present and future of an industry that is increasingly becoming a driver of jobs, innovation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n

Forestal Sylvis and bicomplejo petricor shared a stand at the exhibition, reinforcing our vision of an integrated value chain: from eucalyptus plantations under silvopastoral systems to industrial transformation into plywood. Our president, Ra\u00fal Gauto, also took an active role in two panels: moderating the debate on carbon credits<\/strong> and joining the discussion on the solid wood, pulp, and composite industry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond our institutional presence, the Expo was an opportunity to highlight the real potential of the sector. According to data presented by INFONA, Paraguay is registering more than 70,000 hectares of new plantations each year<\/strong>, mainly along the so-called Wood Corridor<\/strong>, which accounts for 70% of the planted area. The country already has over 500 forestry-related industries<\/strong>, though they operate at just 50% of capacity due to lack of raw material. The sector directly generates 5,890 jobs in industry<\/strong> and thousands more across its value chain. Most importantly, Paraguay has more than 8 million hectares suitable for plantations<\/strong>, without competing with other productive sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These numbers confirm that Paraguay has what it takes to become a competitive global forestry hub, capable of attracting international capital, creating skilled jobs for young people, and diversifying its economy. The challenge now is to continue professionalizing operations, securing international certifications such as FSC, and aligning every project with the triple bottom line of economic, social, and environmental impact demanded by global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
